Against child labourTogether with FairPen Uganda, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) organised World Day Against Child Labour 2012 on June 12 in Kampala, Theme this year is ‘ human rights and social justice’ . Four FairPen primary schools wrote and draw about the theme in their newsletters. The best stories and illustrations were compiled in a special edition for this day.
Hundreds of children came together in Kitante Primary School in Kampala and recited poems and stories about what they thought was social injust or against human rights. There was also a press conference, set up by children who asked representatives of the Minstry of Education, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and ILO questions about how to prevent child labour and other injustices against children in school and home. They expressed their feeling that the government should put more efforts in preventig and punnishing offenders.
